((I didn't know what to call it, so that's a line from the theme song for ya!)) ((I also decided Kelsey is 1/2 British because of her mother. But they still lived in Maine; her mother moved to America when she was 22. She has a tiny bit of the accent and it comes out strongly sometimes when she's upset. But her pronunciation of certain words like garage is English sounding)) Her heart pounded in it's bone case, making her unbalanced and hot as she slipped into her flowing second skin. There was something about the vibrant pattern that had caught her eye in the store that weekend. She knew that's what everyone would first see her in. She'd be remembered as the girl in the beautiful tribal print dress. No one will know her name or why she came, but it will only make them long to know more.
Kelsey Donovan didn't really care to be seen or spoken to, but something in her knew this would be different. She wasn't sure how yet, but it was. Ever since the kind of, sort of, a little bit tragic death of her parents, she felt like the door to her tiny wire cage was open. But she was too afraid to fly out. Her knees wobbled a bit as she pulled herself into the passenger seat of Rosaline's silver convertible. Kelsey set her new teal purse on her lap. They didn't really use backpacks at Hollywood Arts. They told her the lockers were too small to fit them.
The ride was long and silent as she rubbed the bottom seam of her dress. Nervous. She stopped breathing for a second when Kelsey noticed the school in the distance. She didn't feel ready. Was she really talented enough for such an artsy school?
Her blue eyes bolted to the side view mirror to check her appearance one last time. Her hair shone like gold in the powerful California sunshine, though, her dark roots were beginning to sprout back up.
The young girl's stomach did cartwheels when the car came to a stop outside the school's entrance. She glanced at Rosaline. Her aunt smiled. Kelsey didn't.
"Show 'em what you've got, angel!" The tiny woman called after her. 'Angel' was the nickname she'd given her niece. Rosaline had always felt something missing in her life and when she heard her older brother's daughter was coming to live with her she couldn't have been more thrilled. She thought of Kelsey as a gift. Her very own angel.
"Bye." Kelsey replied softly before heading towards the entrance. She stopped before opening them, taking a good look around before going in.
Why couldn't I just be home schooled?

Walking into school was horrible for Dahlia. She tried to look at her feet as much as possible, but she had to look up at some point. When she did look up, all she saw were people staring at her. More like staring at her only friend. Sinjin attracted a lot of attention, but not the kind that anyone wanted. Everyone thought he was weird, and whenever he tried to talk to anyone they pushed him away. When Sinjin first started talking to Dahlia, he creeped her out. Big time. She tried to muster up the courage to tell him to go away, but she got so nervous when she had to talk to someone that she just let him talk. The only word she'd ever said to him was "hi", and he took that as they were best friends from then on. She usually listened to what he was saying, but sometimes he said some really weird stuff and she blocked him out. Today, he was talking about following some girl named Jade into the girls bathroom. She definitely did not want to hear about that. She put in her ear buds and blasted Breathe Carolina into her brain. Sinjin kept talking, but she couldn't hear any of it. She could only see his mouth moving, and his arms flailing. He looked really excited about something, and Dahlia hoped it wasn't following Jade into the bathroom again. He's done it more than once. Every time he does, he always comes out with a hand print on his face and a kick in the gut. When he does it to the red-headed girl, Cat, she just screams at the top of her lungs, and he gets scared. It's actually one of Dahlia's favorite things to watch. It's really funny to see him get beat up by Jade. Dahlia walked up to her locker and pulled out her ear buds, Sinjin was now talking about how good Dahlia looked today. He was so creepy, but she did look good in her new pencil skirt and cardigan, but she didn't want to hear it from him. So far, her new school year resolution wasn't going as planned. She vowed to herself that she would talk more, that she would talk at all. She thought to herself, might as well start now.... She politely waited until Sinjin had taken a break in his shower of compliments, and said, "Thank you." His eyes got wide. He yelped and yelled, "YOU TALKED!!" Dahlia looked him straight in the eyes and replied, "yes". Sinjin yelled again, "YOU TALKED!!". Then added, "I HAVE TO GO TELL MY MOM. BYE." He ran out the door, all the stares were now on her. She didn't have Sinjin to take the blame. She closed her locker and walked to class, looking down the entire time.

Kelsey was nearly trampled by the sprinting boy who stated his name was Sinjin and that he liked to wear his mother's blouses. His hair was the color of straw and was nearly twice the size of his head, shooting in every direction. His crazed eyes burrowed into Kelsey's and made her feel somewhat violated. Horrified and confused, Kelsey pushed passed him and into the surprisingly colorful high school. New students were very rare, and eyes followed her through the bright halls to her blank locker. It stood out from the others like a moth among butterflies. Everyone at Hollywood Arts decorated their locker. It's a unique way to express oneself and let your spirit shine through. At least, that's what the brochure said.
She tried the combination once, just to get the hang of it before the bell rang. The building was a lot bigger than she had expected. Unfortunetly, it wasn't long until she was lost entirely. Kelsey was nervous and a little scarred as she scratched at her wrists, trying so hard not to cry. By now the halls had cleared entirely cleared; leaving her alone to wander aimlessly.
"Hey!" a voice called from behind. Her hand flew to her chest; her heart feeling as if it were going to spring out of her. Kelsey spun on her heels to face another dorky looking boy with dark, curly hair ((I decided this was after he got his hair cut)) and think framed glasses. He propped a ventriloquist dummy up in one arm, the other up it's shirt. The boy ran up to catch her and stopped out of breath before her.
"You must be," he said between huffs, "the new kid." He stopped panting and smiled. "I didn't realize you'd be a girl."
Kelsey only stood and watched him silently. She wasn't sure how to respond.
"I'm Robbie." He said to her, grinning proudly.
"And I'm Rex!" the puppet said. Kelsey stared in terror at the doll. She found something about dummies so eerie. "Nice to meet you, baby doll."
"I-" She sputtered. This school just kept getting odder and odder. "I'm Kelsey."
"Kelsey." Robbie repeated fondly. He smirked, looking off into the distance. Things were weirdly quiet for a moment as Kelsey could only wrinkle her nose at Robbie's strange behavior.
"Duuude, you're scaring her away!" Rex exclaimed, snapping Robbie out of his daze.
"I'm so sorry! You're lost, aren't you?" Robbie guessed, he looked sympathetic towards her suddenly. She nodded.
"Where ya headed so soon, babe?" the puppet asked. Kelsey was going to have to get used to responding to inanimate objects. Did everyone carry a prop like this?
She glanced down at her schedule and read it to him aloud, "Advanced Art 1; room 223." Her blue eyes looked back up at the two of them. Robbie's mouth had found itself hanging open. She smiled at him, uneasily.
"Sorry about Bozo here, that's on the second floor." The ratty haired puppet said calmly.
How does he do that? She thought to herself beginning to walk away.
"WAIT!" Robbie cried after her.
Oh no.
Once again, he came sprinting after the shy blonde. "Let me walk you, in case you get lost!" He sputtered.
"Okay." She tried to sound as cheerful as possible, but puppet dude was seriously starting to get to her.
To make things worse, he would not stop rambling. She zoned out while he spoke of the school, upcoming events, how she should join him for lunch. Her deep eyes were too busy scanning the painted walls and admiring the customized lockers.
"So," the pale boy finally spoke after a run-on sentence about how good the wraps in the outdoor cafeteria were, "Where are you from?"
"Maine." Kelsey replied casually, she didn't even bother to look at him. That bothered him.
"Wow, that's sort of the other side of the country." It was the other side of the country. "Why come all the way to California?"
Kelsey thought quickly of a good excuse; she knew if she told him the truth he'd only ask more questions. "I heard a lot of good things about this school. It seemed interesting." It wasn't lying, just not being through.
"So, you moved here? That's neat. What area are you by then? Maybe I could think of something around there you'd wanna check out?"
"Some street called Indian Lane."
Robbie stopped in his tracks and gently hit her on the arm.
"I live on that street, too! Which house is yours?"
By now Kelsey couldn't help be a little excited by his happiness. It was obvious he was drawn to her and really wasn't so bad. She looked up at him and replied:
"2014; The house is grey and it's got a big flower bed out front full of red and white orchids."
"Shut up!" Robbie couldn't hold back his smile any longer. "I live right next door!"
"Really?" Her voice sounded both surprised and a bit disappointed. "That's so cool."
He shoot his head and continued to grin. "Well, this is the class. You should come find me at lunch. You could sit with me and my friends."
She asked hesitantly if he had a friend with the name of Sinjin by chance and he promised he tried his best to stay away from that kid. They parted as she entered the insanely beautiful art room. It was filled with sculptures and paintings, the walls covered in murals and mosaics, and mobiles hung from every inch of the ceiling. Her neck grew hot as the warmth crept up into her face. Everyone in the class was watching her now, their eyes sunk into her and made her palms itch.
"Welcome!" A friendly middle aged woman called sweetly from the other end of the large room. Her face and forearms were covered in bright chalk and greasy paint. Her grey streaked hair was doing a horrible job of staying in the bun loosely stuck on her head. "You must be Kelsey."
"I'm so sorry I'm late!" The girl squeaked rubbing her hands together.
"Don't be sweetie, it happens all the time." The woman gestured to an open chair and Kelsey slowly inched towards it. "I'm Miss Barnevy. I saw your work, it's brilliant. I begged them to put you in my Art 2 class, but Art 1 is required beforehand. You can think me later for getting you here in advanced." She teased with a wink.
Kelsey smiled genuinely. She didn't know she was really that good. ~~~~Later~~~~ Two periods later, Robbie came running to his usual lunch table with high hopes of seeing that beautiful blonde again.
"What's the rush, Robbie?" a small girl with vibrantly red hair asked her friend in her tiny voice.
Before he could answer, the Philipino looking boy cut in, "He's looking for his new attractive lady friend."
The little faux ginger allowed a squeal to escape. She threw her hands over her mouth as her lips spread up her face.
"Is she the new girl?" a tall brunette asked after swallowing a fork-full of lettuce.
The boy with the tan complexion shrugged. "Guess so. I've been hearing about her all day."
"Me too." A dark skinned boy added through a mouthful of tuna fish. "Someone told me she's a chinchilla breeder from Canada!"
"I heard," the red headed girl piped up, "she's a former circus performer here to escape the devastating future she has a clown slash elephant trainer."
"Okay," Robbie interrupted. "Neither of those even remotely make sense."
"Hey," the tiny voice of the red head voice peeped. "Doesn't she have blonde hair and blue eyes. Wearing a printed dress?"
Robbie blinked in astonishment. "Yeah, exactly that!"
"Oh... because she's standing right behind you."
He turned quickly, becoming incredibly close to Kelsey's face. He blushed in embarrassment and whimpered a pathetic hello. Kelsey smiled and waved to the chatty table. It was a surprise his friends looked generally normal. The y introduced themselves.
Cat; the red head, Beck; the tall, tan unbelievably gorgeous Canadian boy, Tori; the tan brunette with a Mary-Sue esque personality, and Andre; the dark skinned guy with layers and layers of tiny braids for hair. They were all incredibly welcoming with thousands of questions. Kelsey had a tingly feeling in her tummy that grew stronger with each question she replied to. Maybe she could fit in this time?

Kelsey, Beck, Andre, Robbie, and Tori were all sitting at their table, chatting their lunch hour away. Kelsey wasn't quite sure how it happened, but suddenly her entire face was covered in pop and mushy tuna fish. She spat and sputtered until she thought she got it all out of her mouth and slowly began wiping it away from her eyes.
"Wha...?" Kelsey started, she was too startled to even finish her question.
"OHMYGOSH, I'M SO INCREDIBLY SORRY, I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THAT! I'M SO, SO, SOOOO SORRY!" came an unfamiliar voice from above her, but she still couldn't see due to the tuna fish in her eyes. Soon there was a flurry of napkins in her face and a tall, lean, girl with dark skin, dark hair, and a few pink highlights, was revealed to her, and trying to get all of the fish out of her hair. The Indian looking girl was still spewing apologies even after the majority of smelly fish was removed, she finally sat down, looking very embarrassed and very worried.
"I'm SO sorry! Paul saw this thing on T.V. so he's been going crazy trying to teach the move to me. There's a lot of jumping... I thought I would practice and show you guys, but I shouldn't have. I'm SO sorry!" The tall girl got out all in one breath.
"Well you got some on Tori, so it wasn't a complete waste." Another girl with dark hair and highlights said, a smirk on her face while she spread butter on a bagel.
"HEY!" Tori yelled at her.
"Heyyy" Beck told the girl cautiously, seemingly warning her.
"What? It was funny." The girl told him back, holding her ground. Beck rolled his eyes and looked back at Kelsey.
"Kelsey, this is Minnie" he said gesturing the the Indian girl "and the mean one over there is Jade"
Kelsey just nodded, not really knowing how to respond to that, when she remembered something.
"Wait, who's Paul?" She asked Minnie timidly.
"Oh, he's the dance instructor here, he won't even tell anyone his last name, I don't even think the teachers know... so we just call him Paul. I'm a dancer" Minnie responded before smiling at the blonde, blue eyed girl.
"Yeah, but other than that Paul is SO cool! You should totally meet him Kelsey!" Andre told her, looking exciting.
Kelsey had already met so many new people just today, did she really have to go through more introductions after this? It was a bit overwhelming for her first day, but she figured if she were to ever fit in with these people it would take a lot more than this.

Dahlia walked down the abandoned hallway, and lugged her string bass into a classroom she knew was no longer in use. She flipped the dusty light switch and gently shut the door behind her. She unzipped the case and pulled the monstrous instrument out. She rubbed rosin on the horse hair of her bow, and pulled it across the strings. She played the only song she had memorized, Bad Romance.
When she came to the bridge, the door opened. She didn't look up to see who it was. A lot of the time when she came to practice, the janitors came in a cleaned around her. Or Sinjin watched, but he usually watched from a heating vent somewhere. She didn't hear and scrubbing or hyperventilating, so she knew it wasn't one of her usuals.
She glanced up from her strings, and saw a flurry of dark hair and muscles. Her bow clattered to the floor. She carefully set the bass on its side on the floor. She started to make her way toward the door. Beck caught her by the elbow and twisted her around. "Hey, I'm sorry for coming in here like that, but you're fantastic."
She had no idea what to say. She'd never talked to a boy before. Except Sinjin, but he's Sjinjin, and doesn't count for anything. She started to hyperventilate and made some kind of guttural noise. She left Beck really confused in the dusty room.
He just stood there, looking out the door to where Dahlia had gone. He jumped a little when he heard metal screech against itself. He looked at the far wall, and saw what looked like a bale of straw come out of the vent. The bale kept coming and soon there was a gangly boy, in a crumpled mess on the ground under the vent. Sinjin bounced up and grinned at Beck.
"She was good, wasn't she?" Sinjin asked.
"Yeah." Beck said suspiciously.
"And she's totally hot." Sinjin smiled.
"Yeah." Beck was getting really creeped out.
"And her room is very organized-"
"What?" Beck cut off the boy with the Ramen Noodles for hair.
"From what i can see in the window, it's really nice." Sinjin continued.
Beck turned on his heel and walked out. He didn't want to be in a dark hallway anymore with that weirdo. He had to go find Dahlia.

After a long, confusing first day at Hollywood Arts, Kelsey made herself comfortable on her red and white polka-dot comforter. Her golden hair was pulled up in a tight ponytail, still dripping wet from her shower. The faux blonde was hidden in a sea of sketch pads and pencil shavings; she was trying her best to get inspired for her next painting class project. An unexpected knock made her heart skip a beat. It wasn't from the door, it sounded like... Glass. Her head flew up from her work as her eyes began to frantically scan the room. They widened, focusing on her glass balcony door.
The dorky, dark haired boy stood outside on her tiny white balcony. She paved a way off her bed and stomped to the door, aggressively pulling it open.
"Robbie!" Kelsey shouted, "Why can't you be a normal person and use the front door if you want to visit me?!"
The goofy smile plastered to his face quickly fell. "I'm so sorry!" he scrambled for words. "I just thought... you know... cause my room is right across from yours... and... and.."
"How did you even get up here?!" She demanded.
"There's a ladder in your yard...." Robbie replied innocently.
Kelsey's mouth fell open, all she could do was wonder what could possibly be wrong with this ignorant boy. She shook her head to clear her mind like an etch-a-sketch.
"I just changed like 5 minutes ago, you could've seen me!" She huffed.
The boys gaze dropped to the floor as he began to mumble, "Well, um, actually..."
"OH MY GOSH!" Kelsey was doing everything in her power to keep from pushing him off the balcony.
"Well I didn't look!" He defended.
"Go."
"But, I just wanted to-"
She cut him off, "Just go!" She slammed the door in his face and pulled the white silk curtains over the window. This is what you get for going to an artsy school. Kelsey thought to herself. Psycho dancers and nosy actors.

Andre, Beck, and Jade walked down the stairs into the main hallway of HA, deep in conversation.
"So, he was like 'DUDE!' and I was like, woah, what IS that?!" Andre suddenly stopped in the middle of his story and flung his hands up to cover his ears. Beck quickly did the same and looked around.
"Dude, there's no one in this hallway, where is it coming from?!" Beck yelled at Andre. Jade was just standing there, taking a drink from her water bottle, then she pointed at turquoise locker with pink point shoes painted on it.
"Once you've heard that noise one time, you never forget it." She told them, her voice flat. The three of them went over the locker, you could only see the top half of it because it was partly behind the stairs. Beck and Andre were still looking around for the noise when Jade kicked something they couldn't see.
"Ow..." came a voice from below them.
"Woah!" Andre yelled, jumping back.
"What?" Beck asked looking confused.
"Minnie, I thought I told you to never do that, EVER AGAIN." Jade said sternly to the person laying on the floor in front of the locker. Beck and Andre finally realized who it was and helped her sit up.
"That was you?" Andre asked her, looking frightened.
"Yeah... remember when you asked why I didn't get involved in more things at Hollywood Arts?" Andre nodded "Well, that was why. Our first grade teacher had a reason for not letting me sing 'Happy Birthday'" Minnie told him, giving him "that look"
"Ooo!" was all Andre said, pursing his lips and raising his eyebrows.
"You guys have been friends for eleven years?" Beck asked them curiously. They nodded and smiled at each other, but Jade interrupted and broke the moment.
"Why on earth were you doing that?" She asked Minnie, crushing her water bottle between her hands.
"Well, we have that big school wide talent show every year, right? Apparently Sikowitz decided that my days of just getting by in his class and doing crew for everything are over. He said that if I want to pass the eleventh grade I have to get at least one small part in a play, start playing an instrument, and I can't dance at all for the talent show." Minnie told her three friends, then added, wailing "AND THE PRINCIPAL AGREES! It's a requirement now, so I was just... practicing." She finished, her chin quivering.
"So you were, singing?!" Beck asked incredulously.
Andre turned to Jade "I'm sorry." He told her sincerely.
"Yeah, me too. I was at her house once and I didn't believe her when she told me how bad she was. And even if she was bad, I was sure I would enjoy hearing it, ya know, because I'm me" Andre and Beck nodded at this knowingly "So I made her sing... WORST DECISION OF MY ENTIRE LIFE." Jade yelled, her head in her hands.
"yeah... But now I don't know what I'm going to do! Other than dance, I'm basically talent-less. I'm going to be in high school forever." Minnie told them, she sounded like she believed it was absolutely true.
"Even with what I just heard... It can't be impossible. We can find you some help for acting and an instrument, and we'll see what we can do about... that..." Andre told her, pointing at her throat.
"Yeah, it'll be a piece of cake. You're voice really isn't that bad." Beck told Minnie reassuringly. Minnie suddenly burst into tears and let out a sob.
"See?! We all know he was lying, but it was just so darn believable! I could never do that!" Minnie spilled out between wails. Jade helped Minnie up and patted her shoulder encouragingly.
"Let's go get your makeup cleaned up now... " She led her friend away to the bathroom, but looked over her shoulder back at the boys and shot them a worried look. It didn't matter how well they covered it up, they all knew that had a hard road ahead of them.

Beck walked up to Sinjin, who was at his locker. Sinjin looked at him and tried to apologize for something about a security camera, but Beck decided it was best to ignore him. After all, he needed something from Sinjin.
"Sinjin, i need your help." Beck whispered. He looked around to see if any one of importance had over heard.
"Hmmmmm, I'll do what ever. Under one condition." Sinjin took of his glasses, and licked them. He then proceeded to put them back on his face, covered in saliva.
"What's the condition?" Beck asked nervously.
"For one day, let me be part of your group."
"That's fine. Whatever. I just need information about Dahliah." Beck said.
"Everything?" Sinjin asked.
"Yeah, sure."
"Well, her favorite color is magenta. She plays 8 instruments, she practices everyday in the old classrooms. She lives at 824 Schmidt Dr. Her window is the first on on the back side of the house on the west side. She wakes up at 6:24 everyday, then she takes a shower. Her showers usually last 12 and a half minutes, then she gets dressed. She drives a red Chevy Cobalt that gets about 22 miles per gallon in the city. Her license plate number is V1F JK96. She buys her underwear at Target, mostly pink. She stays up until 11:48 every night, reading in her room. Her room is quite organized, she has a lot of shelves. Her closet is organized into a sweater section, a blouse section, and a tee-shirt section. Her drawers are like that too. She has a skirt drawer (bottom), jean drawer (2nd from bottom), and a shorts drawer (middle), then there's here underwear drawer, and then her sock drawer. She only wears ankle socks. She has 1,653 songs on her iPod. She has every single song that We The Kings ever put out. She loves them. Her locker number is 409, her comb is 17- 29- 3. And her favorite teacher is Mr. Psycowits, because she can talk around him. Do you need more, or is that good?" Sinjin finally finished.
"That's good, thanks." Beck slowly backed away.
Sinjin yelled after him, "SEE YOU TOMORROW, FRIEND." and waved frantically after him.
